Chancellor's Duties Heading link
The chancellor is chief executive officer of the UIC campus and a vice president reporting to the president of the University of Illinois, which includes campuses in Urbana-Champaign and Springfield.
With leadership authority and responsibilities for strategic administration of the campus, the chancellor enhances and sustains UIC’s core values and commitments to greater diversity; to more effective undergraduate, graduate and professional education; and to integration of new and existing scholarship among wide-ranging disciplines.
The chancellor serves as liaison to local, state and federal agencies to ensure UIC serves the people of Illinois through its missions of excellence in teaching, research, public service and economic development.
In the role of vice president, the chancellor serves as a member of the president’s cabinet, participates in the planning, allocation and evaluation of the University and helps execute the policies of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.
The chancellor and vice president is UIC’s key representative at meetings of the Board of Trustees and serves as an ex-officio member of the development committee of the UI Foundation Board of Directors and the University of Illinois Alumni Association Board of Directors.
